Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Jeddah

The Consulate’s jurisdiction spans the six western provinces of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Makkah, Madinah, Baha, Asir, Jazan and Tabuk).

Jeddah, the second most important city in Saudi Arabia with a population of 3.75 million, is known as a commercial and financial hub. Jeddah is also the gateway to the two holy cities of Islam, Makkah and Madinah, and is visited by tens of millions of people every year. It was in this area that hundreds of thousands of Koreans built key infrastructures in the 70s and 80s.

As part of the 「Vision 2030」, which aims to reduce the country’s dependence on oil and diversify its economy, Saudi Arabia is implementing a number of mega projects in the western regions, such as the ‘NEOM Project’ to build a smart city encompassing residential, tourism and industrial sectors, and the ‘Red Sea Project’ to create global tourist destinations on the shores of the Red Sea. It is expected that Korean companies will be more actively involved in its implementation and contribute to the success of the projects.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Jeddah will exert heartfelt efforts for the promotion of exchanges between the two countries in the western region. The public diplomacy will also be further expanded, fostering closer bonds between our peoples.
