The Embassy of the Republic of Korea has been conducting "Kimchi Diplomacy" during November by sharing freshly-made Kimchi with the royal family, government and parliament officials, diplomatic corps, journalists and the Korean Community in Sweden.
This event is to introduce the taste and efficacy of Kimchi, and to promote "Kimjang: Making and sharing Kimchi in the Republic of Korea" which was listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in December 2013.
"Kimchi Diplomacy" was started back in 2017. The event is expected to complement the diplomatic activities in this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. It is also meant to celebrate "Kimchi Day (November 22)" which was designated as a legal holiday in Korea this year.
