Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations

The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations hosted a National Day Reception on October 8th.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Jihoon Cha reflected on Korea’s long-standing connection with the United Nations, highlighting how the Republic of Korea rose from the devastation of war and division—with the support of the UN and the solidarity of the international community—to achieve remarkable progress in economic growth and democracy.

Ambassador Cha stressed that by renewing our commitment to the UN's founding principles—putting people first, embracing cooperation, and fostering inclusion—we can move together toward a more sustainable and peaceful future, and that the ROK stands ready as a trustworthy and constructive partner on this journey. He also touched upon Korea's active engagement in the Security Council and its pragmatic approach toward the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula through the E.N.D. (Exchange, Normalization, and Denuclearization) initiative.

A promotional video showcasing the 'K-Initiative' was also featured, highlighting the power of the Korean people in driving democracy and the global K-culture wave. Guests were also treated to a congratulatory jazz performance by 'The Real Blue,' a New York-based band led by talented Korean saxophonist Pureum Jin.
