Korean Seattle Consul-General's  Visit to Anchorage

Our Consulate has supported for Consul-General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle, Seo Eun-ji, visiting Anchorage September 26 to 28. It was the Consul-General Seo's first visit to Alaska after her posting in Seattle in March this year. During her visit, Consul-General Seo had meetings with Lt. Governor Kevin Meyer, Commissioner Julie Sande, Deputy Commissioner Nelson San Juan, Senator Tom Begich, Senator Elvi Gray-Jackson, Senator Bill Wielechowski, Representative Geran Tarr, Mr. Greg Kaplan (US Senator Lisa Murkowski's office), Mr. Chad Padgett (US Senator Dan Sullivan's office) and Chief of Police Anchorage Michael Kerle.

Meanwhile, Consul-General Seo made two lectures during her stay in Anchorage; firstly on "Public Diplomacy and Overseas Compatriots' Roles" in the meeting hosted by Peaceful Unification Advisory Council Anchorage Chapter on September 27; secondly on Korea-US/Alaska relations, titled "Forward New Chapter of Korea-US Alliance", in the Meet & Brief session hosted by World Trade Center Anchorage on September 28.

Consul-General Seo's visit is considered to be a good opportunity to take stock of the current Korea-US relations and discuss ways to further strengthen the ironclad alliance.  This visit is also assessed to have given a chance of networking with not a few Alaskan dignitaries and politicians and Korean community members in Anchorage.
