Long-term Visa

1. Student (D-2)


Required documents : ① General Required Documents, ② Certificate of admission (issued by the dean/president of the university that was certified by Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Education), ③ Certificate of Business registration of  university


      ※ If the applicant had the Korean nationality, the renunciation of the Korean nationality must be done. Documents that can prove the result of renunciation of korean nationality (basic certificate or confirmation letter) must be submitted. 

         Even if the applicant does not own Korean nationality, if the applicant's parents had korean nationality before, they must submit a document proving that the applicant was born AFTER the parents obtained U.S citizenship. (copy of parent's citizenship certificate, applicant's birth certificate) 


2. General Trainee (D-4)


Language trainee at a language center of an educational organization(university, community college), a student at a student at a secondary educational institution such as high school or below 


6 months or less visa (If you plan to stay in Korea for 90 days or less, you must apply for a C-3-1 Short-Term General visa instead of D-4 visa)


 ※ If the applicant had the Korean nationality, the renunciation of the Korean nationality must be done. Documents that can prove the result of renunciation of korean nationality (basic certificate or confirmation letter) must be submitted.

  (1) Language trainee at university


Korean-language trainee: D-4-1, Foreign-language trainee:D-4-7


Required documents : ① General Required Documents, ② certificate of admission (issued by the dean/president of the university that was certified by Ministry of Justice), ③ Certificate of Business registration of  university


  (2) Language trainee by the National Institute for International Education


Required documents : ① General Required Documents, ② invitation letter (issued by the National Institute for International Education), ③ Certificate of Business registration of  university


  (3) Student enrolled in elementary, middle, and high school : D-4-3


Required documents : ① General Required Documents, ② Copy of business registration of an educational institution, ③ Admissions acceptance letter, ④ Document proving your financial ability (bank statement, copy of most recent tax return, etc)


If you submit your parents' balance statement or copy of most recent tax return, you must submit a family relation certificate as well.


3. Foreign Language Instructor (E-2)


  (1) EPIK and TaLK (E-2-2)


Native English Teaching assistant(EPIK: English Program in Korea), Volunteer English teacher under a program called Teach and Learn in Korea (TaLK)


A single entry visa will be issued, which is valid for the contract period plus 1 month with a maximum validity of 2 years, and a specific code for Teaching Assistant (E-2-2)


Required documents : ① General Required Documents, ② Notice of Appointment of EPIK, ③ Employment contract with the head of a school district school board


  (2) Teacher at an English Academy (E-2-1)


A foreign Language Instructor (E-2) visa will be issued if you have the visa issuance confirmation (issued by Korean immigration field office)


Required documents : ① General Required Documents (please, put down the visa issuance number on your visa application, ② Employment contract


4. Dependent Family (F-3)


You are allowed to apply for an dependent family(F-3) visa, if you are an accompanied a spouse or an unmarried minor(under Korean age of 19) of eligible applicants for student visa or high-skilled worker visa.


Required documents : ① General Required Documents, ② Documents proving the family relations (Marriage Certificate or Birth Certificate), ③ Document proving your financial ability (bank statement, copy of most recent tax return, etc)


When you apply dependent visa with the principal applicant, you don’t have to submit document proving your financial ability.


5. Marriage Migrant (F-6)


You are eligible to apply for a Marriage Migrant (F-6) visa, if you are a spouse of a Korean citizen or you are raising a child born between a Korean citizen (including the de facto marital relationship)


Required documents : ① General Required Documents, ② Invitation Letter(written by Korean spouse), ③ Marriage Migrant Personal Statement (must be written in either Korean or English), ④ Inviter's Basic Certificate, Inviter's Family Relation Certificate, Inviter's Marriage Certificate, ⑤ Documents proving your place of residency (lease contract, confirmation of provided residence, etc), ⑥ Amount of Income Certificate (issued by the National Tax Services), Credit Information Report (issued by bank association) / if you are a employee : invoice of withholding tax(issued by the place of employment) and certificate of employment / if you run business : business registration certificate


6. Foreign Government Official (A-2)


You are eligible to apply for an A-2 visa if you are a civil/public servant employed by a foreign government or an international organization in a non-diplomatic capacity travelling on an official mission.


You are allowed to stay in the ROK until your official duty is over.


Required documents : ① General Required Documents (free fee), ② A document demonstrating your current employment status and overseas assignment, or an official letter written by the head of your organization requesting cooperation (the letter shall indicate that you are on official mission)


7. International Agreement (A-3)


You are eligible to apply for an A-3 International Agreement visa if you are a person or an immediate family member in accordance with SOFA Agreement (A-3-3)and Fulbright Agreement(A-3-99).


A multiple-entry visa will be issued to an eligible applicant for an A-3 visa.


Required documents : ① General Required Documents (free fee), ② Official identification card, ③ A document demonstrating your current employment status and overseas assignment, or an official letter written by the head of your organization requesting for cooperation (the letter shall indicate that you are on official mission), ④ copy of marriage certificate(spouse), copy of birth certificate(child)


8. Workation, Digital Nomad Visa

       - General Required Documents

  • 1) Certificate of Employment (Apostille/Notary Required) 

  • : Must be employed by overseas company and have worked in the same industry more than a year

  • 2)Proof of Income 

  • : Must be more than double of the previous year's Korean gross national income (GNI)

  • GNI for 2022: 42,480,000 KRW, GNI doubled: 84,960,000 KRW (7,080,000 KRW Mmonthly)

  • 3) Bank statement, Certificate of salary, and etc.

  • 4) Criminal Background Check (Apostille Required)

  • 5) Health Insurance 

  • : Must hold a health insurance of at least 100 million won to cover medial treatment and transportation to applicant's home country
