K-ETA(Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) Announcement

Please be informed that from Sep, 1, 2022, K-ETA application will be available to 107 countries.

□ What is the K-ETA?

K-ETA(Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) is a travel authorization that foreign nationals(112 countries), who are eligible to travel to the Republic of Korea without a visa, need to obtain by providing personal and travel related information through the K-ETA website(or mobile app) in advance.

※ due to the current COVID-19 situation, the K-ETA will only be available for 107 countries. (See Attached 3)

※ U.S. citizen who will travel to Korea must apply for the K-ETA before boarding the flight.

□ Application and Approval Procedure

ㅇ (Application) Foreign national should apply for the K-ETA on the website* at least 72 hours before boarding the flight

    * △[PC] www.k-eta.go.kr  △[Mobile App] K-ETA (App Store, Google Play Store)

ㅇ (Assessment) K-ETA system analyzes the application information(bio data(facial image), watch list, passenger reliability, etc.) 

   - If there are no issues, generally the application will be automatically approved within 30 minutes

   - If any issues arise, the K-ETA official will check and determine the traveler as ‘Selectee*’ or ‘Not OK’ within 24 hours

    * Selectees will be sent to secondary inspection upon entry and in-depth interviews will be carried out

ㅇ (Notification) Results will be sent to the e-mail address submitted by foreign national applicant

ㅇ (Entry) Those who received ‘OK’ will be exempt from submitting the arrival card, and those who received ‘Selectee’ will be sent to secondary inspection for in-depth interview before final determination of admission

ㅇ (K-ETA Fee) 10,000 KRW

ㅇ (K-ETA Validity) 2 years from the date of approval, regardless of number of entries within the validity period

□ Attention

① There may be some delays in K-ETA application assessment due to increased applications following the additional inclusion of countries, so please apply for your K-ETA at least 72 hours before boarding the flight.  

② Screening may be strengthened for the time being due to the COVID-19 situation, so please apply at the time of your actual entry rather than far in advance.

③ If there are any changes to your personal information or you had your passport reissued after obtaining K-ETA approval, you must apply for K-ETA again regardless of the existing K-ETA approval’s validity.

Non-official Websites for K-ETA Application

Recently, non-official K-ETA application websites were found to be charging more than the official fee. One website’s price for the K-ETA application was even 20 times more than the official fee.

  ※ (ex) www.koreaeta.kr, www.koreaonlinevisa.com, http://www.etasouthkoreavisa.com, etc. are not official website.

K-ETA can only be applied from the K-ETA official website(www.k-eta.go.kr) and mobile app(K-ETA). The Government of the Republic of Korea has not designated any application agencies for K-ETA.

The K-ETA fee is 10,000KRW(additional fee excluded) and does not charge any extra fees.
