Ⅰ. General Information

1. U.S. Visa Waiver Program


U.S. citizens can visit the Republic of Korea without a visa for duration of up to 90 days or less if the purpose of the trip is for tourism or visiting families or relatives (Extension of stay is not permitted).

2. For Non-U.S. citizen

3. Consular Jurisdiction of Atlanta


The jurisdiction of the Consulate General of the ROK in Atlanta encompasses Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, North and South Carolinas, Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Islands. If you live outside of these areas, please refer to "About the Mission" > "Consular Jurisdiction" to find the Consulate that would have jurisdiction over your state.


We only accept visa applications within our jurisdiction.


4. General Required Documents (Applies to all Visas)


1) Visa Application Form (printed and completed)


2) Photo (natural color, taken within 6 months, 2”X2” is okay)


3) Original Passport (more than 6 months valid) & Valid U.S. long-term status (visa or permanent resident card)


① U.S. citizen – Original passport only


② Non U.S. citizen – Original passport and Original Valid U.S. long-term Visa or Permanent Resident Card. As for the application via mail, documents of long term residence (permanent resident card, long term visa, extension letter, etc.) must be notarized within our jurisdiction.  


③ China, Philippine, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Mongol, Thailand, Pakistan, Sriranka, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Peru, Iran, Syria, Sudan

- Nationals of these Countries should submit documents of long term residence (at least 2 years/excluding B-1/B-2) in the U.S.


4) Proof of jurisdictional residency

- Copy of Driver's license (or Utility bill) with name and address (within our jurisdiction)


5) Visa Processing Fee *Please attention to number 5 below.

- Cash or Money-order (PAY TO: KOREAN CONSULATE / Signature required / not editable)


6) Prepaid Return Envelope USPS ONLY (No FEDEX, No UPS)

- For mail-in applications, we will not process your visa application without a self-addressed stamped envelope.


5. Visa Fee (*For the Details, Check Announcement #13, Click Here)


1) U.S. Citizens : US$45 (regardless of type of visa and number of entry)


2) Non U.S. Citizens Fees vary based on reciprocity.

- Canadian, Chinese, Indian applying for C-3 : US$40

- Vietnamese applying for C-3 : US$20 (Single entry)

- Filipino applying for C-3 : free (only in case of less than 59 days)

- Mongolian applying for C-3 : free


※ Single entry visa for a stay of less than 90 days : US$30 – US$130

※ Single entry visa for a stay of more than 90 days : US$50 - US$200

※ Multiple entry visa : US$70 – US$250


3) Cash or Money-order (PAY TO: KOREAN CONSULATE / Signature required / not editable)



6. Processing Time


1) The visa processing time is 14 business days from the date the application and the documents are received (Not including mailing time). After 14 business days, please check your application status and print your own visa by visiting at https://visa.go.kr.


2) All Submitted documents with visa application will not be returned to the applicant except the passport.


3) We no longer issue sticker-type visa in your passport.




Ⅱ. How to apply a Korean VISA



1. You may submit your visa application in-person(on-line appointment required) or by mail. If you are going to visit in person and apply for the visa, you have to make an online appointment (Check Announcement #3, Click Here).


※ We only accept visa applications mailed within our jurisdiction. Visa applications from outside our jurisdiction will be returned at your own expenses.


※ All the documents submitted with visa application will NOT be returned to the applicants except the passport.


2. When mailing, please prepare the following documents. Make sure to check other notification posts as there will be additional requirements depending on the type of visa.


1) Visa Application Form[attachment 1, 2] (printed and completed); Depending on the type of visa, it is necessary to attach relevant documents such as a visa issuance number or the Certificate of Admission.


2) Photo (natural color, taken within 6 months, 2”X2” is okay)


3) Original Passport (more than 6 months valid) & Valid U.S. long-term status (visa or permanent resident card)


① U.S. citizen – Original passport only


② Non U.S. citizen – Original passport and Original Valid U.S. long-term Visa or Permanent Resident Card. As for the application via mail, documents of long term residence (permanent resident card, long term visa, extension letter, etc.) must be notarized within our jurisdiction.
