* New policy for C3-9 Shorterm Tourist Visa applicant *



Proof of legal stay in the United States for the past two years (i.e. Valid US Long-term VISA (Not B1/B2), Permanent Resident Card, Immigration Approval Letter or Utility Bill, Lease Agreement, Tax Report etc) is required to apply the short-term Korean Tourist Visa in the United States. Otherwise, you have to apply in your own country at the Korean Embassy.

   - The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Boston serves Massachusetts, New Hampshire,

Rhode Island, Maine and Vermont residents Only and require Proof of Residence in these areas.


1. Visa-free Entry to Korea for US Passport Holders

   U.S. citizens can visit the Republic of Korea without a Visa up to 90 days if the purpose of the trip is for

   tourism, business meeting, attendance at a conference or visiting families or relatives. (US Green Card holders

   are not applicable to the Visa-free entry.


2. Visa Navigator

   (1) Anyone, who is not qualified for Visa-free entry(e.g. who wishes to stay more than 90 days, to work or

        to engage in for-profit activities in Korea), is kindly requested to apply for an appropriate entry Visa.

   (2) You can check the categories of Visa through Visa Navigator(If webpage is shown in Korean, please

         press "ENGLISH" in upper right corner of the page.)  

   (3) Dual Citizens : A person with multiple nationalities who has both Korean nationality and foreign nationality

        is considered a Korean national, not a foreigner in Korea. The applicant’s visa hereby could be cancelled

        if he/she is proved to be a Korean national and not be a foreigner anymore even though the visa has been

        issued from the Korean government. Korean government may ask you to submit additional documents

        related to you and your parents’ nationality when you apply for a visa to check it.


3. How to Apply

   (1) You must submit your Visa application with all required documents in-person.(Not allowed by Mail)


         - The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Boston serves Massachusetts, New Hampshire,

           Rhode Island, Maine and Vermont residents.

  

  (2) Application forms and required documents. 

       1) Application Form (see Attachment 2-1)

               - For those with alphanumeric Visa issuance confirmation number (such as 'AB-CD-12-345678') issued

                 by the Ministry of Justice in Korea, please fill out 1st page of Attachment 2-2.

        2) Additional documents by Visa categories  : You can check required documents through Visa Navigator.

             (If webpage is shown in Korean, please press "ENGLISH" in upper right corner.)      








        3) Valid Passport (must have at least 6 months of validity left) and a photocopy

        4) One Passport photo glued on the application form


        5) Visa Fee : Visa Application Fee in non-refundable. 

             - $45 (Cash or Credit Card) for US citizens regardless of Visa category


              - Other country citizen : See Attachment 4 (Visa Fees by Countries)

        6) Additional Documentation May Be Required.


4. Office Hours Monday through Friday, 09:00 am - 4:30 pm (All paperwork must be received before 4:30 pm)

     Closed on federal holidays of USA and Mar 1, Aug 15, Oct 3, Oct 9.


5. Processing Time 7 days (Single-Entry visa is valid for 3 months after the visa is issued)

7. Others

    (1) All submitted documents with Visa application will not be returned to the applicant.

          -  If you want to keep the original documents for yourself after Visa process, please prepare

             photocopy along with original documents.


    (2) You don't need come back again to get the Korean Visa sticker.

          -  You can print out by yourself at home, "Visa Grant Notice" See Attachment


8. Required Documents

 

   (1) General Required Documents

 

- Visa Application Form (See top of page for links to download form)

Original Passport (must be valid for more than 6 months) & photocopy of passport

- Passport Photo

  (on photo paper, natural color, 2inches x 2inches, taken within 6 months)

- Fee $45 for US Citizens (Cash or Credit Card)

 

  (2) Additional required documents for Non-US Citizens

- U.S. Permanent resident card (or Valid long-term U.S. visa) and copy

- Recent 1 month bank statement or certificate of remittance or exchange

   (current balance over $3,000) for C3-9 Tourist Visa

- Basic visa application fee $40 (90 days or less Single-entry)

                             $60 (91 days or longer Single-entry)

                             $70 (Double-entry visa usable up to 2 times)

                             $90 (Multiple-entry)

 (3) General Additional required documents by purpose 

 Depending on the applicant’s circumstances, the head of the Korean diplomatic mission may request/exempt additional documents or to interview for further evaluation.

Korean-U.S. West Program (H-1)



- You are eligible to apply for a H-1 visa, if you are undergraduate or recent    (period after graduation must not exceed 1 year) graduate of university.

- Accompanying dependent family members is not allowed
- Multiple-entry visas only with a period of stay of 1 year and a half


- Required documents :

o A valid passport & A passport copy(passport must be valid for more

  than 6 months at the time of application submission) 

o A completed visa application(attached)

o A passport size photo for the application (2” x 2” passport photo

  must be glued down on the application form)

o Activity Plan (please check the attached sample)
o Proof of a roundtrip airline ticket

o Proof of Bank Statement more than $3,000 balance

o Proof of student status or proof of highest academic qualifications

  (Reciprocity)

-> Japan, U.S.(U.S. Passport holders must be a current student or a graduated student within less than a year.)

o Criminal Record(Reciprocity)

-> Canada, New Zealand, France:

o Medical Exam (Reciprocity)
