The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea covers as its jurisdiction five states in the New England region: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine, and Vermont.
New England is the cradle of American history and nation-building since the Puritans, in 1620, on board the Mayflower, searching for freedom, landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
As the intellectual core of the United States, New England is home to Harvard University, MIT, and other prestigious universities. It has also been a hub for cutting-edge scientific technologies and innovation, including biopharmaceuticals, telecommunications, and IT.
In April 2023, President Yoon Suk Yeol visited Boston as part of his state visit to the United States, where he identified the future potential of the New England region and also laid the foundations for concrete cooperation with Korea.
Overseas Koreans are at the center of the future-oriented cooperation between Korea and New England. The Korean community in New England has steadily developed and firmly rooted in American society with its long history of immigration.
The Consulate General will exert efforts not only to interact and cooperate with overseas Koreans in New England for the continued advancement of the Korean community but also to play an important role in bridging and shaping the mutual cooperation between Korea and New England.
The Consulate General will continue to work hard to serve as an open space and a channel for communication where overseas Koreans can always feel at home.
Thank you very much for your attention and support.
