(F-1-D) Workation (Digital Nomad) *Pilot Program

[ N O T E ]


Please note that not following the proper procedure to apply for a visa can automatically result in denial of a visa. Furthermore, any verbal abuse or unlawful behavior and actions are grounds for denial of visa issuance and may prevent future visa applications.




The visa will be piloted from January 1st, 2024 to December 31st 2024.




THIS VISA FOR 

○ Foreigners(age over 18) who own an overseas business or who work for overseas companies, who can work remotely, and who have worked in the same industry for at least one year are eligible along with their families(*Legal Spouse and Unmarried Childern under age 18 years old)

○ This visa strictly restricts employment in Korea and profit-making activities 

  *Punishment in accordance with Korean Immigration Laws in case of violation


○ This visa will be issued with multiple entries and the duration of stay is 1 year. 

  *The visas are valid for one year from the entry date and can be extended for an additional year in Korea.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS (Appointment Required Click)

The required documents may vary by the consulates and embassies.
Please check it with your local consulate before you apply for the visa.

The head of Korean diplomatic missions abroad may request for additional documents depending on the condition of the country of residence/jurisdiction if it is deemed necessary for visa evaluation.

2. 1 photo for Visa Application
   : Color, US passport photo size, taken within the last 6 months

   : If the applicants fill out the form by visa portal web form (Click) and print it in color, don't need to prepare this item.


3. Original Passport and a copy

   : The Passport should be valid for more than 6 months

   : (If applicants apply for the visa by mail) Please send the notarized passport copy instead of the originals.

4. Visa Fee (Cash / Credit Card / Money Order)

   : It varies depending on the nationality. (For U.S.Citizens: $45)

5. Employment Verification Letter (Certificate of Employment)

   : The applicant should be in the relevant industry for at least one year.


6. Documents that can prove the applicant's income (Submit more than 2 below)

  - A person whose annual salary is at least USD 66,000. (Twice the gross national income (GNI) per capita in the previous year announced by the Bank of Korea.) [33,000 x 2]
    * As of January 24, 2022-year notice GNI is 42.49 million won (approx. USD 33,000)

  *The document must have been issued within 6 months as of the date of receipt.

   : 3 months Pay Stub (W-2, or other official Wage Statement)
   : 3 months Bank Balance Statement
   : 3 months Account Transaction Statement
   : 2 years Tax report (IRS 1040, or other official Tax Report Statement)

  

7. FBI Criminal Records

  *The criminal record must have been issued within 6 months of the date of visa submission and has to be authenticated by the Apostille from the Department of States.
   (If the document is issued from a country that is not a signatory country of the Apostille Convention, the document can be confirmed by a consulate of a respective country’s diplomatic mission in ROK.)

 A person with the following criminal records cannot apply for this visa ]


 1) A person sentenced in a foreign country for certain violent crimes and crimes related to intimidation, blackmail, fraud, voice phishing, drugs, and sexual violence prescribed in Article 2 of the Act on Special Cases for the Punishment of Specific Violent Crimes.

 2) A person who has been sentenced to imprisonment or higher in a foreign country for crimes other than the above, and the execution of the sentence has not yet been completed.

 3) A person who has been sentenced to imprisonment or higher in a foreign country for crimes other than the above and is on probation, and five years have not elapsed since the date of their sentence.


8. Certificate of Medical Insurance Subscription

   : A person who has insurance that covers more than 100 million won(approx. USD 76,000) for hospital treatment and evacuation to their home country during their stay in Korea.


9. Family Relation Certificates

   :(For Spouse) Marriage Certificate

   :(For Child) Birth Certificate

   *Original Required and (if it is not issued in Korean or English) Notarized translate Certificate in English.

   *An individual original passport and application is required for each applicant. 


*Don't forget to Sign before you submit the application 



NOTE

 Foreigners who have entered Korea with short-term visas such as B1, B1, and C3 may change their visa status to this F-1-D visa at the Korean Immigration Office office in its jurisdiction if the above conditions are met.




ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

○ Korean ancestry applicants may be required additional nationality documents(기본증명서, 제적등본, 가족관계증명서) to verify dual citizenship. (Proof of loss of nationality, renunciation of nationality, etc.)
  : If the applicant has dual citizenship, is NOT eligible to apply for a visa.

   *The Applicant may issue Korean Passport instead.

○ If any information or documents submitted along with the visa application are verified as false statements or falsified, will cause a denial of visa issuance and may prevent future visa applications.

○ Sticker-type visas are no longer issued. The visa grant notice is the actual visa that must be brought for entry to Korea.
