On Tuesday, June 25, at 10:00 AM, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Los Angeles (Consul General Youngwan Kim) held a ceremony commemorating the 74th anniversary of the Korean War at the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Fullerton, Orange County.

The event was attended by over 250 distinguished guests, including Colonel Juan Mora, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army's 40th Infantry Division, Irvine Vice Mayor Tammy Kim, Fullerton Vice Mayor Fred Jung, and Tor Saralamba, Consul General of Thailand, among other prominent diplomats from UN allied nations.

In his commemorative speech, Consul General Youngwan Kim emphasized the importance of strong security and military readiness, stating, "Without stringent security and military preparedness, history's harsh lessons may repeat, and only a robust ROK-US alliance with strong combined defense posture can deter North Korean provocations."

Colonel Juan Mora, Chief of Staff of the 40th Infantry Division, shared an anecdote about the construction of Gapyeong High School during the war, noting, "The threat from North Korea persists today, and the 40th Infantry Division, along with the U.S. military, will not hesitate to sacrifice once again to defend freedom if the Republic of Korea is threatened."

Thai Consul General Tor Saralamba remarked, "As an allied nation that fought alongside U.S. and Korean forces during the Korean War, Thailand remains committed to contributing to lasting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula."

Vice Mayor Fred Jung of Fullerton and Vice Mayor Tammy Kim of Irvine also expressed their hopes for peace on the Korean Peninsula and extended their gratitude for the sacrifices and dedication of the war veterans.

Consul General Kim presented the Ambassador for Peace Medals to Korean War veterans Milton Lee Snyder and Hyey Long Davenport during the event.
