New regulations for TB(Tuberculosis) test taking effect on Dec. 1st, 2022

We, the Embassy of the republic of Korea announce new regulations for TB report as below. 


If you fail to meet our new requirements as below, your visa application will be rejected. 

    

1. Those applying for a visa for more than 90 days must use the attached form for submitting their TB report to us, together with your hospital TB report.

 

2. You must print out the attached form and request your doctor to fill out the form. (Please note that you must use our designated hospitals. For your information, we hereby attached the list of them. And if there is a blank in your form, your visa application will be denied.)

   

3. You must attach your passport-sized photo on the TB report.

 

4. Specific instructions for TB test are as below. 


- Signs & Symptoms suggestive of TB

• Meaning cough, fever, night sweating, weight loss, etc. for more than 2 weeks.


- Chest X-ray

• Interpretation as “No active TB”, if applicants without signs & symptoms and the chest X-ray findings are normal. (If you receive the result like this from Chest X-ray, you don’t have to take the below sputum examination.)



- For those need to take Sputum examination


• Applicants with signs & symptoms, should perform sputum test regardless of the chest X-ray findings.


• Applicants without signs & symptoms, but the chest X-ray findings are “cured or inactive TB” or “suspected active TB”, should perform sputum test. 




• Three sputum specimens must be collected at least 24 hours apart


• The date of sputum examination is recorded as the first specimens collect date


• Both the sputum smear test and sputum M. tuberculosis culture test are required, and additional nucleic acid amplification tests for tuberculosis can be performed if necessary (optional)
