F-3 Visa Requirements

F-3 Visa Requirements


  • 1.Visa application form

  • 2.Original passport * At least 6 months validity required

  • 3.Passport Photo

  • 4.Copy of passport

  • 5.Application fee:

If your travel period is less than 90 days visa fee will be R720-00.

If your travel period is more than 90 days visa fee will be R1080-00. 

Visa fee will vary depending on the passport you are holding.

(Please confirm visa fee with the Embassy if you do not hold a South African Passport)

Since the VISA fee covers the costs related to the visa application review such as processing and evaluation, your application fee will not be refundable even if your application denied

  • 6.Original Police Clearance certificate

  • 7.TB X-ray report (valid for 3months) *Please only submit the TB X-ray report that you will receive with your X-ray from the Radiology Department. DO NOT include the X-ray or CD, and no other health letter from your doctor is needed. ***This requirement is only when your travel will be for more than 3 months.

A list of the hospitals where the examination can be done is attached on the Embassy website. 

Applicants who are exempted from the above requirement are as below;

1) The following types of visa: A-1 (Diplomat), A-2 (Government Official), A-3 (Agreement)
2) Children under 6 years old

3) Pregnant women

Certificate of TB (tuberculosis) Screening form:

  • You must print out the attached form and request your doctor to fill out the form after you did the TB x-rays at one of the designated hospitals on the list. 

  • You must attach your second passport photo on the TB screening form.

Specific instructions for TB test are as below:

- Chest X-ray

• If applicants without signs & symptoms and the chest X-ray findings are normal, they don’t have to do the sputum test.

- For those need to take Sputum examination

• Applicants with signs & symptoms, should perform sputum test regardless of the chest X-ray findings.

- Signs & Symptoms suggestive of TB:

• Meaning cough, fever, night sweating, weight loss, etc. for more than 2 weeks.

• Applicants without signs & symptoms, but the chest X-ray findings are “cured or inactive TB” or “suspected active TB”, should perform sputum test. 

• Three sputum specimens must be collected at least 24 hours apart

• The date of sputum examination is recorded as the first specimens collect date

• The sputum smear test and sputum M. tuberculosis culture test are required, and additional nucleic acid amplification tests for tuberculosis can be performed if necessary

  • 8.3 Months bank statement (Recent)

  • 9.Original Confirmation of Employment in South Africa * employed applicant only

  • 10.Original invitation Letter

  • 11.Original guarantee letter *Your spouse employer should provide you with this letter.

  • 12.Family Relation documents:

  • Copy of marriage certificate

  • Copy of birth certificate * Only when you are the principle applicants child

  • Copy of your spouse passport.

  • 13.Copy of your spouse visa and ARC(Alien registration card) * only when your spouse have one.

  • 2.1 passport-size photo  * Please glue it on the application form (left side of section 1. Personal Details)

  • 3.Original passport * At least 6 months validity required

  • 5.Application fee:

Important Notice for Visa Application:


  • Embassy may request additional documents after submission if necessary.


  • Documents as listed below should be issued within the past three months of application submission date: Business Registration, Corporate Registration, Tax Payment Proof, Family Registry Certificate, Marriage Certificate, etc.


  • Insufficient supporting documents will cause unnecessary delay in the processing of the application, therefore applicants must prepare a complete set of required documents upon submission* Submitted documents for application will not be returned


- The applicant’s original passport will be kept at the Embassy. The passport will only be returned once there is an outcome on your application.


  • Applications can be submitted in person or with a third party (courier service, family member, Friend) etc.  

* Please note that the Embassy strongly advises all applicants that will use a courier service to make sure that the courier service will allow you to send cash.

  • Processing time is 5-7 working days. (Weekends and public holidays are excluded)

(Application process may take longer at times without prior notices.)


  • There is no express service available. Please do not contact the Embassy to hasten your application process.


  • Once the visa process is completed the applicant will receive a call from the Embassy.

The Applicant should arrange to collect their passport and visa if they can’t come to collect in person. (The person that are collecting on your behalf should give us your full name and surname or give us a copy of your passport in order to collect)

Information when you received you visa:


  • Visa Expiration Date is the last date you are permitted to enter the Republic of Korea.

  • The length of your visit as indicated on your visa is the maximum period you can stay with the same visa in the Republic of Korea.

  • Permission for extension of stay in Korea should be requested in advance before expiration to the Korean Immigration Office in the Republic of Korea.

  • Note that a visa does not guarantee entry to the Republic of Korea. You may be denied entry into the Republic of Korea if you do not satisfy all eligibility requirements for entry.

  • Once you applied for your new visa, the old one will be cancelled even if it was still valid.

  • Once you arrive in Korea, you need to obtain a foreigner registration (Alien registration) card from the local immigration office within 90 days from the date of arrival.
