On Wednesday, 14 April 2021, His Excellency Chull-joo Park, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, presented his Letter of Credence to His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa.
Ambassador Park expressed his intention to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in the sectors of trade, investment, technological cooperation and tourism. Ambassador Park said that South Korean people companies had keener interests in South Africa with the entry into force of the African Continental Free Trade Area(AfCFTA). He said that he was quite sure that more Koreans, including businessmen and tourists among others, were be going to visit South Africa as the Covid-19 situation stabilize under the leadership of President Ramaphosa and he would do his best to facilitate those visits for concrete results.
Ambassador Park also said that the Embassy would organize several meaningful events such as a seminar on human rights issues in collaboration with the Nelson Mandela Foundation next year to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relationship of the two countries.
