D-2 (Study Visa to Attend Regular Schools & Summer school) Visa

  • Eligible Applicants
    • People who plan to attend regular education courses(exchange student, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree programs) at a college, university or graduate school 
    • Please note that people planning to stay for less than 90 days should obtain D-2-8 visa
    • If you are the national of visa waived country, you can apply for D-2 visa INSIDE KOREA. However if you have C-3-2, C-3-3, D-3, E-9, E-10, G-1 visa, you can not apply for D-2 visa inside Korea.

    Required Documents except Chinese, Cuban, Syrian, Macedonian and Kosovo national

  • 1. A completed Visa application
    2. A recent passport photo (3.5 x 4.5cm, colour photo)
    3. Passport (Original)
    4. Certificate of Admission (Official Letter from Korea)
    5. Certificate of the Current or Last School Attended
    6. Documents proving Financial Affordability :
        - For BA, MA, PHD students: The Last 6 Months Bank Statements Showing at Least 15,000 USD(=9,500GBP) for the students of Universities in the national capital region, at Least 13,000 USD(=8,200GBP) for the students of Universities in the local region. This amount of money Must have been held in Account for 1 Month at least. 
        - For exchange students and students who is studying under 12 months: The Last 6 Months Bank Statements having enough money which can cover the whole cost of your stay in Korea at section 7 on the certificate of admission. The money Must have been held in Account for 1 Month at least. 
    We cannot accept bank statements issued more than 2 weeks before the date of your application. Also we cannot accept Internet banking/Cash Point/ATM or Mini Statements as the Evidence of Funds.
    If the Applicant is Not Able to Support him/ herself Financially, s/he Can Submit either Doc 1), Doc 2) or 3) along with the applicant's own bank statements
    1) A Certificate of the Student Loan which Can Cover the Expenses in Korea (Only in the case the Applicant Does Not Have Enough Balance on the Bank Account)
    2) Parents Financial Affidavit: photocopy of the parents' passport, Agreement Letter with signature which explains the parents will fully support the applicant financially, 6 months bank statement of parents bank account with the balance which can cover the certain amount of money mentioned above for last 1 month and birth or family relationship certificate to confirm the relationship between applicant and supporter.
    3) If you get scholarship, you need to submit certificate of the scholarship. On the certificate, the sponsor should clearly mention about the scholarship detail like receiver's name and total amount of money etc. 
    7. Business Registration Certificate of the School in Korea.

    9. If you are an exchange student, you need to submit Exchange Student Agreement between the Universities and letter of recommendation written by current school in UK.
    10. Documents proving your family relations(Original copy and the translated version with notarisation) only for 21 states below: China, Philippine, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Mongolia, Thailand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Ukraine, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Peru


    Required Documents for Chinese, Cuban, Syrian, Macedonian and Kosovo national
    ※ Items subject to change depending on individual circumstances
    Chinese national going to Korea as exchange student do not need a visa issuance number. Chinese exchange student need to apply for D-2 visa with the documents as same as above list for general applicant for D-2 visa.

    4. Confirmation of Visa issuance Number (which is issued in the local immigration office in Korea)

    5. If you are an exchange student, you need to submit Exchange Student Agreement between the Universities and letter of recommendation written by current school in UK.
    6. Business Registration Certificate of the School in Korea.

    Required Documents for Short term study(under 90 days)/Summer school visa(D-2-8)

    1. Documents related with the invitee (Either one of these :School letter/ Employment letter etc)

    Documents related with the establishment of the institute opening the meeting (Certificate of business regsistration)

    MOU agreement between the Universities of UK and Korea(If you are exchange/summer(winter) school student)
