Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Sydney

Consul-General Yong Jun Choi of the Consulate-General of the Republic of Korea in Sydney made an official visit to Darwin upon the invitation of the Northern Territory government from July 2nd to July 4th.

During his visit, Consul-General Choi met with government and parliamentary officials, including His Honour Professor the Hon. Hugh Heggie PSM, the Administrator of the Northern Territory, Robyn Cahill OAM MLA, Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations, and Acting Deputy Commissioner, Matthew Hollamby APM, Northern Territory Police. He also attended a roundtable meeting with senior Northern Territory officials to discuss critical minerals, energy, and bilateral cooperation between Korea and the Northern Territory.

In his meetings with Northern Territory officials, Consul-General Choi discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation, including enhancing Korea–Northern Territory collaboration and supporting Korean business investment activities in the region. He also requested close cooperation in ensuring the safety of Korean nationals residing in the area and responding to any incidents or emergencies.

As part of his official visit, Consul-General Choi also had a meeting with Korean community in Darwin.
