1. What is a “Working Holiday in Korea”?

The purpose of the Working Holiday Programme in Korea is to allow you to have an extended holiday while enjoying short-term work in Korea.

This is a one-time only visa and allows tremendous flexibility for you to immerse yourself in Korean culture.

Working Holiday visa holders are also permitted to study Korean language at a private educational institution during their stay.

You may leave and re-enter Korea as many times as you wish during your 12 month (maximum) stay.

2. Who is eligible?

  • For people from the countries/region outlined above
  • For people 18-30 years old (18 and 30 inclusive) at the time of visa application
  • Not to have previously taken part in any Korean Working Holiday Programme

3. What are the limitations on work?

  • Annual employment period cannot exceed 1,300 hours
  • Cannot engage in the following job categories:
    • Service employee, dancer, singer, musician, or acrobat at an adult entertainment establishment
    • Vocations that require specific qualifications, such as medical doctors, lawyers, professors, pilots, language instructors, etc.
    • Take up other activities contrary to the purposes of working holiday programs (news coverage, politics, etc.)

4. What is required for visa application? (for Australian nationals)

  • Valid original passport
  • Visa Application form
  • A passport photograph (35*45mm taken within the last 6 months)
  • Visa fee(Cash, Money order, Bank cheque) AUD $509.60
  • Confirmed round-trip ticket
  • Activity plans for 1 year in Korea
  • Proof of sufficient funds to support themselves for a minimum of 3 months in Korea
  • Medical examination results from GP (HIV blood test, Narcotic Drug test, Chest X-ray)
