H-1 Visa (Working Holiday)
◆ General Information
* Age requirement : 18-30 years old at the time of visa application
* Entry to Korea : within 12 months after visa issuance
* Work conditions : 6 months on maximum under same employers
(Please refer to the Ineligibility section for information regarding job restrictions in particular fields)
* Expenses Incurred : Flight ticket, Travel insurance, Basic amounts needed
* Language study : Language study is possible up to 4 months
* Dependents : Can not be accompanied by dependents
Only Australian passport holders are able to apply for Working holiday (H-1) visa in Australia.
Other nationalities must go back to their home country and apply for Working holiday (H-1) visa.
◆ List of NOT Eligible for H-1 Working Holiday visa * Applicant who wants to work as a receptionist, dancer, singer, musician, acrobat at an adult entertainment * Applicant who wants to get a professional job which requires certain qualifications e.g) doctor, lawyer, professor, pilot, foreign language instructor, etc. * Applicant whose main purpose to Korea is not to travel, but solely to seek employment * Applicant who wants to engage in journalism or political activities, which are not suitable for the purpose of the agreement * Applicant who desire to take a training or educational course in pursuit of an academic degree other than a Korean language training course will be required to apply for a student visa (D-2) |
◆ How to Lodge Visa Application
- Visiting the office : Mon ~ Fri, 9:00AM ~ 12:00PM
- Sending required documents by post mail

◆ Required Documents (We do not return visa documents once submitted)
1. Visa Application form
2. Original passport
3. A passport photo (35*45mm taken in recent 6 months)
4. Visa fee (AUD $548.80)
- when you visit the Consulate office : Cash, Card
- when you send by post mail : Money order, Bank cheque / Payee: Korean Consulate in Sydney
5. Confirmed round-trip flight ticket
6. Travel schedule and Activity plan for 1 year(attached file)
7. Medical examination results from GP : Blood(HIV) test, Narcotic Drug test, and Chest X-ray
* Please prepare test results as well as a GP letter that provides detailed explanations for each of the test results.
8. Bank transaction lists for the recent 3 months (Minimum closing balance should be more than 5,000 AUD at the time of visa application)
* Please provide an up-to-date transaction list which was issued less than a week at the time of application.
* Account holder and visa applicant must be the same person.
9. Prepaid express post platinum envelope from the post office for return of your passport
* Only if you are submitting the visa application by post mail or if you cannot pick up your passport in person
◆ Visa Processing Time
Approximately 7 working days from the date of documents submission. (Post delivery time is not included.)
※ Please note that it might take more if the case needs additional supplementary documents.
※ Express visa service is NOT available.
◆ Visa Validity
Working Holiday(H-1) Visa is valid for 1 year, which means you must enter to Korea within a year. Once you arrive in Korea, you need to obtain a foreigner registration card from the local immigration office within 90 days from the date of arrival. Please check the 'Hi Korea' website(https://www.hikorea.go.kr) for more details.
