Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Kenya

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Kenya has the pleasure to announce that it will receive application for the "2022 Global Korea Scholarship Program (Graduate)" by National Institute for International Education(NIIED) under the Korean Ministry of Education. 

Under this program, 5 successful Kenyans and 2 successful Somalis (in the Embassy track) will get an opportunity to undertake their studies in Korean universities supported by the Korean government.

**************************************************  Eligibility  **************************************************

○ Age :   Born after September 1, 1982

   - Academic professors who are under 45 years of age (born after September 1, 1977) are eligible to apply. 

○ Nationality  : Kenyan or Somalian

   - All applicants and their parents must NOT hold Korean citizenship

○ Degree Requirements

     -   Master’s Program Applicant: Must hold a bachelor’s degree or a level of education equivalent to or higher than a bachelor’s degree.

          -   Doctoral Program Applicant: Must hold a master’s degree or a level of education equivalent to or higher than a master’s degree.

        ○ Grades (Must be calculated by the full transcript)

          - CGPA(Cumulative Grade Point Average) must be above 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5 or 3.23/5.0

          - Score percentile should be 80% or above on a 100-point scale or be ranked within the top 20% within one’s class

              * If an applicant holds a transcript that does not include information on CGPA or is unable to convert his or her grades into any one of the acknowledged GPA scales (4.0, 4.3, 4.5, 5.0, or 100 point scale), then the applicant must submit additional documents officially issued by their respective university describing the university’s grading system.

************************************************** How to Apply **************************************************

○ Read carefully attached "2022 GKS-G Application Guidelines (English)" for the instruction of how to apply and the necessary documents to be submitted (along with the attached "2022 GKS-G Application Forms"). 

○ All forms and necessary documents should strictly follow the attached guidelines and should be physically submitted in 4 copies.(One with the original stamp and 3copies) to the Embssy Reception,1st Floor, Misha Tower, 47 Westlands Road, Nairobi, Kenya

○ All educational certificates and transcipts should be duly certified by the Ministry of Education.

○ Full transcript and Degree cetificate must be attached

○ Courier parcels are only acceptable for Somalia Applicants

○ Any missing of documents after the time of submitting the application may result in disqualification.

○ Attached '2022 GKS GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS INFORMATION FORM' should be sent by email to "secretary-ke02@mofa.go.kr" within 48 hours after submitting the applications. 

   - The file name and Title of email should be equally "YOUR NAME_GKS-G"

************************************************** Deadline ************************************************** 

○  Embassy of the Republic of Korea receives only the Embassy Track Applications, from 16th February(Wed.) to 7th March(Mon.) 2022 (at 9AM~12PM and 2PM ~ 3:30PM), Reception,1st Floor, Misha Tower, 47 Westlands Road, Nairobi, Kenya

○ If you don't receive any communication from the Embassy by 18th March 2022 4PM, kindly consider you are not shortlisted and you can apply to the University track there after. In this case, you must apply only after we announce the shortlist. 

   - If you submit to both tracks at the same time, you will automatically be disqualified.

○ If you want to apply to only University track, you can apply from now on following the schedule of each University.

○ For the University track, applicants need to check and apply directly to the University of their choice.

○  Somali applicants can only apply for R&D programs at University Track.
