중화인민공화국 건국 제65주년 기념 리셉션 축사

존경하는 추궈홍 주한중국대사님,

그리고 내외 귀빈 여러분, 

오늘 여러분들과 함께 중화인민공화국 건국 65주년을 축하하게 된 것을 기쁘게 생각합니다. 지난 7월 시진핑 국가주석님은 방한하시면서“마치 친척집을 방문하는 듯하다.”고 말씀하셨는데, 저도 오늘 이 자리에 오니 가까운 집안의 생일 잔치에 온 듯 편안한 마음이 듭니다.  

중국은 개혁개방 이래 정부와 국민들의 합심노력하에 눈부신 발전을 이룩하였습니다. 그리고, 그 토대위에서 지금은 시진핑 주석님의 지도력 하에‘중국의 꿈’이라는 목표를 이루기 위해 일로매진하고 있습니다. 이와 같은 중국의 건실한 발전은 중국민들의 복리 증진뿐만 아니라, 국제 사회의 평화와 번영에도 건설적인 기여를 할 수 있을 것이라 모두가 기대하고 있습니다.

내외 귀빈 여러분, 

한․중 관계는 수교 이래 비약적인 관계 발전을 이루어 왔으며, 이러한 추세는 작년 초 양국의 신정부가 거의 동시에 출범한 이래 그 열기를 더해 가고 있습니다. 

우리 두 나라는 작년과 올해 정상간 상호 방문을 통해 앞으로의 새로운 20년을 내다보는 한․중 전략적 협력동반자 관계의 내실화를 목표로 청사진을 마련하였습니다.  

이러한 청사진을 바탕으로 양국관계는 과거와는 다른 차원으로 그 면모를 일신하고 있으며, 경제 분야는 물론 정치․안보 분야에서의 소통과 협력도 질적․양적으로 성장하면서 명실상부한‘정열경열(政熱經熱)’의 관계로 변모되어 가고 있습니다. 양국간 교역액은 머지않은 장래에 3천억불을 돌파하고, 양국간 인적교류도 곧 연간 1천만명 시대를 맞을 것으로 전망됩니다.  

여러분,

노자는‘아름드리 나무도 털끝같은 묘목에서 시작하고, 9층 누대도 한줌 흙을 쌓는데서 출발한다(合抱之木 生於毫末，九层之台 起於累土)’고 하였습니다.  

22년 전 작은 묘목으로 출발한 한․중 관계가 오늘날 큰 나무로 자라온 것은 양국 정부와 국민들의 관심과 애정, 노력이 있었기 때문이라고 생각하며, 이러한 나무가 여러 분야에서 계속 성장하여 울창한 숲을 이룰 수 있도록 계속 노력해 나가기를 기대합니다. 이렇게 될 때에 박근혜 대통령님께서도 말씀하셨듯이‘중국의 꿈’과‘한국의 꿈’이 어우러져‘동북아의 꿈’으로 더 크게 발전되어 나갈 수 있을 것입니다. 

중화인민공화국 건국 65주년을 다시한번 축하하며, 중국의 번영과 한․중 관계의 무궁한 발전을 기원하는 뜻에서 건배를 제안합니다. 

“한·중간의 우의와 신뢰, 그리고 여러분의 건강과 행복을 위하여!”

Congratulatory Remarks on the Occasion of the 65th Anniversary of the National Day of the People's Republic of China

His Excellency Ambassador Qiu Guohong,

Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, 

It is my great pleasure to be here to celebrate together the 65th anniversary of the National Day of the People's Republic of China. On the occasion of his visit to Korea in July, President Xi Jinping mentioned that he felt like he was visiting a relative. Today, I have the same feeling of familiarity, as if I were coming to a birthday party of a very close family member. 

Since its adoption of the policies of reform and opening up, the People's Republic of China -- through concerted efforts by its government and the people -- has achieved astonishing developments. Building upon this, it is now moving forward towards the goal of realizing the "Chinese Dream," under the guidance of President Xi Jinping's leadership. There is a great hope that such solid development in China will make constructive contributions not only to the promotion of the welfare of its people but indeed to the peace and prosperity of the international community.

Ladies and Gentlemen, 

Since our diplomatic normalization, our two countries have created remarkable progress. This trend of ever-deepening relations has gained fresh momentum since early last year when new administrations were launched in both countries. 

Korea and China, through the exchange of visits by the leaders of both countries, have laid out a blueprint that will enrich the Korea-China Strategic Cooperative Partnership in the coming 20 years. 

Based on this blueprint, the bilateral relations are currently transforming into a whole new level of relationship that is unprecedented in the past. Indeed, as our exchanges and cooperation in not only the economic but also the political and security fields mature both qualitatively and quantitatively, our relationship is increasingly becoming one that fully reflects the expression of "hot politics and hot economics", which means that our relations are vibrant in both economic and political fields. The trade volume between the two countries is soon expected to surpass $300 billion, and the level of people-to-people exchanges will soon reach 10 million persons a year.  

Ladies and Gentlemen, 

The Chinese philosopher Lao-Tzu (Laozi) once said: "合抱之木 生於毫末 九層之臺 起於累土." That is, every giant tree comes from a sapling the size of a hair, and a nine-story tower begins with only a fistful of soil on the ground. 

Twenty-two years ago, Korea-China relation began as a small sapling, but has now fully grown into a big tree. This growth has been achieved thanks to the interest, care, and efforts of the governments and people of the two countries. And it is my sincere hope that such efforts do indeed continue so that the big tree continue to grow in a whole range of areas, eventually forming a dense forest. That, I believe, is when the "Chinese Dream" and the "Korean Dream" can concur and together lead to a more profound form of development in what President Park Geun-hye has referred to as the "Northeast Asian Dream".  

I would like to offer my congratulations once again on the 65th anniversary of the National Day of the People's Republic of China, and I would like to propose a toast to a prosperous China and the continued development of a thriving Korea-China relations. 

"To the bonds of friendship between us, to trust, and to the health and happiness of all of you."
