2026 Quiz on Korea – Ireland Preliminary


1. Application Deadline  **Updated

- The Email title must include “Application for 2026 Quiz on Korea”


2. Eligibility

18 years old and above, and do not have a problem to travel and stay in Korea for the finals (1~13th of September 2026, dates may change)

Under 18 years olds can participate in the quiz with the consent of parents, but s/he cannot go to Korea even if s/he becomes a winner, according to the guidelines given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

- Irish Nationals/Non nationals who do not have immediate family member (parents, grandparents etc) who is Korean or was Korean. (An Irish national who has a Korean spouse is eligible to apply)

- Non nationals living in Ireland / Resident visa holders can also participate in the quiz. However, they will not be eligible to represent the country in the grand final. Only an Irish national can represent Ireland in the grand final.

-Korean nationals cannot participate in this competition.


3. Date & Venue

14.00 - 16.00, Saturday, 30th May 2026

Auditorium, Griffith Barracks Multi-Denominational School, The Old Guardhouse, South Circular Road, Dublin 8, D08 KVY4

- All the participants are advised to arrive at the venue by 13.00(at the latest by 13.30) on 30th May.


4. Other information

The questions are all about Korea, Korean traditions, culture, entertainment, food, sports, movies, lifestyle, geography and language. Question`s types will include True or False questions,   “multiple-choice questions”, and “short-answer questions”.


Applicants should have a good command of the Korean Language, since the Grand Final in Korea will be conducted only in Korean.


The winner of the Quiz on Korea in Ireland Preliminary 2026 will have the benefit of visiting Korea to participate in the Grand Final. The Applicant must have a passport which is valid for more than 6 months ahead of the grand final.


If you are chosen as the winner of this event, you can attend the Final in Seoul, Korea on 12th September 2026. The winner will receive a free round-trip ticket to Korea, and all other expenses during your stay would be covered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea.


5. Withdrawing application

We kindly ask confirmed applicants, who cannot make it on the day, to send us an email to inform of your withdrawal/cancelation of your participation by 28th May 2026.

If you do not inform us of your withdrawal/cancelation by then, you will be restricted from participating in future ‘Quiz on Korea’ conducted by the Korean Embassy.




1. Does submitting the application simply mean that I can participate in the ‘QUIZ ON KOREA’ Ireland Preliminary?

- Only those who have received a confirmation email from the Embassy for the application can participate.


2. When will the winner go to Korea and what is the duration of the stay?

- The winner would stay in Korea from 7th September ~ 13th September 2026 (tentative example) and the Final will be held on 12th September 2026.


3. Can people who participated in the final round in Korea in the past participate again?

- Yes, they can participate in the Ireland Preliminary ‘Quiz on Korea’. However, they cannot go to Korea even if they win the Ireland Preliminary ‘Quiz on Korea’.


4. I have a great-grandfather who was Korean. Am I eligible to apply?

- Unfortunately, you are not eligible to apply, as your immediate family was Korean.
